This is a link to an interesting blog about managing software development with a combination of Kanban and Agile techniques...
I can see shadows of this in the project I'm currently managing, where we pick out the 'top' issues out of our book of work, and put everything else to one side. It's all there in our tracking system (

) but we don't think about any of the rest on a day to day basis, just the top items.
The Kanban system these guys use is much more visual, but with my team all teleworking from their homes distributed across the country, I don't think a white board and post-it-notes is going to cut it!
